Today is a reason to blog. I hate to write but today is a good day to write because I have something to share with you all. Today is the very first time that I have not completed something that is required for training! WOW! Newsflash! But, I have been reading about how education has become a social networking event and today we will inadvertently fall into this practice. I am thinking - what the heck - go for it. If things don't pan out the way we want and the network is slow in one of the training areas, we will become 21st century networkers!
I was thinking about that most painful experience of Differentiated Instruction and how we could have been enhancing what was being discussed by having an ongoing discussion throughout the training about the topic or others as our minds multitasked. We could have done the 21st century thing while experiencing the 20th century thing! WOW! What a concept!
What some of you will be learning today will drive many people crazy! You are going to learn to be social users of information. That means that you are going to connect today in ways that you have never done before. You are going to learn del.icio.us, Google Docs, and some of you will be learning Skype. These three things turned loose in a training session will drive a non-21st century teacher to the proverbial drinking fountain! And I do mean immediately. You will begin to understand today the total connectedness of every member of the staff. And, extrapolating from that, you will see and perhaps understand your new roles in the classroom and how our kids are multitaskers and wonderful users of the current technology.
It will be incumbent of you as teachers to harness this energy and make it part of your daily routines in the classroom.
You guys can do this - 'cause . . . YOU ROCK!
